As I spend more and more time in London – I want to explore ALL the foodie options!

Full disclosure – this is a paid collaboration but all views are my own.

I’ve always been a foodie, and one of my favourite things to do is going out to be eat if I’m being totally honest. I spend a lot of time in Liverpool of a weekend, going in for a wander with friends or my mum. I’ll be honest though, a lot of that time window shopping is spent deciding where to eat.

I’ve recently been spending a lot of time in London for work, which is opening up a whole new world of places to eat.

I’m not one for wandering the streets aimlessly though when I’m on my own, so I like to plan what I’m doing in an evening, including where to eat. I often use Facebook groups to recommend, but sometimes you just need to turn to a single place to give you a list of places to check out.

One such site is Square Meal, which had recently had a snazzy revamp. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal for one, somewhere with great cocktails, a table with a view or even looking for group dining and even wedding venues – it’s got something for everyone. Plus, you can make table bookings on there too.

You can filter the restaurants by cuisine, restaurant type, occasions and ambience. You can also filter for gluten free food, vegan food and vegetarian food as well details like wheelchair accessible venues and places with live music.

With that in mind, here are a couple of place that have caught my eye that I NEED to check out, and I think you do too!

Leggero – for authentic gluten free Italian food!

And then there was light!

Leggero prides itself as the only Italian gluten-free restaurant in London! Honestly, I squealed when I came across their profile – their chefs twist traditional recipes into original dishes with a unique Italian personal touch, with gluten free pasta made entirely by hand from organic flours. There’s plenty of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu too, which is fully marked up with allergens by the way!

I’m loving the sounds of Legerro’s gluten free homemade bruschetta trio and their Pink Ravioli stuffed with gorgonzola cheese – honestly though I’d quite like to eat my way through their whole offering!

Where is Leggero?

You can find Leggero at 64 Old Compton Street, W1D 4UQ, or at their street-food concept, Mercato Metropolitano at 42 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DR.

They’re also available on Deliveroo and Uber Eats (Definitely bearing in mind!)

The Punchbowl London – the Celeb Boozer!

This dark wood-panelled venue was once owned by Guy Richie, so you can imagine the characters that must have come through here over recent years, never mind its 300 year history! It’s one of Mayfair’s oldest pubs – I love places like this, with real character.

There’s not a gue variety on offer for gluten free foodies, though the Loch Duart hot smoked salmon, Jersey royals, shaved cucumber and
horseradish crème fraiche sounds amazing. It’s still firmly on my to-do list for a drink though!

Where is The Punchbowl London?

You can find this historic boozer at 41 Farm Street, Mayfair, W1J 5RP.

Wright Brothers – seafood heaven!

My initial Square Meal search showed this one in the shadows of Battersea Power Station, which is a bit out of the way as I work in City of London. Happily though, there are also restaurants in South Kensington, Soho, Spitalfields and Borough Market. This place looks like it serves up some MEAN seafood, which I can’t get enough of!

It was set up by oyster farmers turned restaurateurs, and of course specialises in them. I’ve got to say, I’ve never actually tried oysters, all the more reason to add them and their Oyster Happy Hours to my London foodie bucket list.

Where is Wright Brothers Battersea?

You can find this seafood paradise at 26 Circus West Village, London SW8 4NN
